Barbara (Barb) Potter (Yaros) - Class Of 1965 VIEW PROFILE

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Barbara Jean Yaros, age 73, passed away Thursday, April 22, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by her daughters and family.  She was born in Gary, Indiana on June 13, 1947 to the late Rodney and Ethel (nee Simmons) Potter.  She was a Hobart High School graduate, Class of 1965.  She retired from US Steel after 34 ½ years of working in the Metallurgical Lab.  In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, creative hobbies of basket weaving and crocheting, and laughing with family and friends.  Barbara was a past member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Lake Station, Indiana & the American Legion, Post 129 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Edward) Pope, Lorraine (Tim) Sullivan; grandchildren, Justin Pope, Allyson (Eugene) Flores, Jenna (Garrison) Palmer, Paul Septer, Elizabeth Pope, Noah Septer, E.J. Pope; great-grandson, Ramsey Flores; sister, Margaret Whitledge; sister-in-law, Sandi Potter; brother, Steve (Char) Potter; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Rich” Yaros; brother, Richard Potter; and her parents.

A burial of cremains will take place in a private ceremony this summer at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Independent Cat Society of Westville, Indiana or the Maria Reiner Senior Center of Hobart, Indiana.
