Dennis Vanecek - Class Of 1965

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, MAY 4, 2013:

Dennis W. "Red" Vanecek, age 65, a lifelong Hobart resident passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was born on May 31, 1947 in Gary, IN to the late Albert and Elizabeth Vanecek. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Dennis retired from the Hobart Fire Department where he had worked for many years. After retirement he worked for Burke's Lawn and Garden Equipment.

Dennis was a loving brother and a friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his sister, Nina (Robert) Massa; one niece, Elizabeth Massa; and one great-niece, Vanessa Claar of Valparaiso, IN.

Funeral services are Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will follow at San Pierre Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, May 6, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Call (219) 942-2109 or visit us online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com

Sherry Oswald (Peterson) (1965)

I remember Dennis with his red hair and freckles as we went through school since Foreman Elementary together.  He served proudly as a Hobart Fireman.  As with so many classmates, his life passed on way too soon.
