Alexander Donald (Alex) Ballantyne - Class Of 1964

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, AUGUST 30, 2003:

ALEXANDER D. BALLANTYNE Age 57, of Hobart, passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 27, 2003. Alexander was a member of Hobart High School Class of 1964 and a graduate of Indiana University, a charter member of the Hobart Historical Society, and was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving in Panama and Korea. He was an employee of Dyer Auto Auctions. Alexander was involved in sales and marketing management for many years. He enjoyed attending the 18th Century French Voyagers Rendezvous, making crafts of the 18th Century, gardening, traveling and had many other interests.

Survivors: mother, Dorothy Ballantyne of Hobart; 3 sisters, Elin (Stanley) Christianson of Hobart, Dee Ballantyne of Healdsburg, CA and Brianne B. (Clarence) Lowery of Independence, KY; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Donald Ballantyne in 1973.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Unitarian Church of Hobart. Funeral services Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. from Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Rev. Roger Brewin officiating. Cremation Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Friday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
