Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Jackie (nee Karner) Brickley both passed away in September of 2023. Jackie was born on July 26, 1951, in Elgin, Illinois to the late George and Florence Brasich. Carl was born on September 4, 1949, in Gary, Indiana to the late Norris and Edith Brickley. On November 21, 1970, they got married at the Methodist Church in Hobart. Together they raised two daughters emphasizing their love of family and country. Carl earned three purple hearts and a bronze star during his tour in Vietnam.
 
They are survived by their daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Adams, Carla Brickley; granddaughters, Ryann and Izzie Adams; brothers, Dennis (Gayle) Brickley, Michael (Susan) Mantai; sisters, Joan Towell, Jeri (Wayne) Sothman, Robin (Ralph) Curtis, Patty Brickley, and Jennifer Brickley; special family members, Nancy Yoder, Cathy Doyle, Jim Karner, and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
 
Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Edmonds. Jackie was preceded in death by her brother, James Karner; and sister, Jeannie Woods.
 
A memorial service for both Carl and Jackie will take place Saturday, October 7 at 3:00pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
