Ted Esping - Class Of 1967

OBITUARY FROM INDIANAPOLIS STAR, OCTOBER 6, 2006:

Theodore "Ted" J. Esping 57, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006. Born July 25, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, Ted spent his youth in Hobart, Indiana, graduating from Hobart High School in 1967. He received his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Florida in 1971, studied law at Duke University, earning his J.D. in 1974, and, while working at Arthur Young in New York City, earned an LLM from New York University, 1977. Ted moved to Indianapolis in 1977 to join the law firm of Baker & Daniels, where he specialized in Federal Income Tax, Municipal Finance, and General Corporate Tax. He was also a Certified Public Accountant and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1975 and the Indiana Bar in 1975. Honors included membership in Phi Eta Sigma and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Ted and Marcia nee Meilaender were married in 1971 and have two children, Alexander and Lauren. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his parents, Ed and Betty Esping, of Sapphire Lake, NC; his brothers Edward (Susan) Esping of Tulsa, OK, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Esping of Atlanta, GA; and his sister Maryanne (Michael) Mooney, also from Atlanta.

The Rev. Glen Wurdeman and the Rev. Gilbert Meilaender will officiate at the service on Saturday, October 7, 2006, 2 p.m., at Advent Lutheran Church, 11250 N. Michigan Rd, Zionsville, IN, with viewing preceding the service from Noon to 2 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Disability Ministries (LDM), P.O. Box 501645, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanner & Buchanan, Zionsville.
