Fred Kennedy - Class Of 1951

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, FEBRUARY 26, 2008:
 
Frederick E. Kennedy, age 75, of DeMotte, IN, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN. Fred was a DeMotte resident since 1970 and had been a former longtime Hobart resident. He retired from U.S. Steel, Gary Works with 45 years of service and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Fred was a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge # 502 F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend. Mr. Kennedy was also active in Boy Scouts, including: Scoutmaster of the DeMotte Troop #157, Assistant Scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Jamboree, Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge, Silver Beaver Award and District Award of Merit. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia O. Kennedy, in 2006.
 
Fred is survived by 2 sons, Stephen Kennedy of DeMotte, Matthew Kennedy of OH; and 1 daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Kennedy-Bryant of River Forest, IL, and 5 granddaughters; Katherine Kennedy of Crown Point; Delaney, McKenna, Tatum and Shea Bryant, all of River Forest, IL.
 
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 28, 2008 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Wayne P. Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 219-942-2109 on online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
