OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, SEPTEMBER 9, 2011:

Patricia A. Jarvis, age 49 of Portage passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011. She was born on April 9, 1962 in Gary, IN. Patricia was a longtime Portage resident and a graduate of Hobart High School. She worked at the Hobart Elks as a waitress.

Patricia is survived by one daughter, Kelly Jarvis of Portage, IN; one sister, Debbie (James) Bordelon of Valparaiso, IN; stepfather, Ulrich Welcome of Burns Harbor, IN. She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Schwager; and her mother, Hazel Welcome.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, with Rev. John Hurt officiating. A memorial potluck will follow at the 29th Avenue Baptist Church in Lake Station. Visitation is Saturday, September 10, 2011 just prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
