OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, JULY 8, 2012:

Horst, Dorothy A. "Dottie" Age 75 a lifetime Hobart resident passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012. She was born on August 14, 1936 to the late Martin and Josephine Sprusansky. She was a longtime member of St Bridget Church and St Anne's Confraternity. Dottie volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and she enjoyed sewing, floral arranging and crafts. She graduated from Hobart High School, class of 1954. She was known as the neighborhood mom. Dottie's family and her faith were both very important to her.

She is survived by her loving husband, William "Bill" Horst of Hobart, IN; daughters, Theresa Marie Miller of Plattsburgh, NY; Mellissa Diane Andric of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughters, Elizabeth Meaghan LaPointe, and Alexandria Josephine Andric, dear friend and uncle, Victor Silaghi, sister-in-law, Janet (Jon) Rains, brother-in-law, Thomas Horst and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Sprusansky.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Asera Care Hospice, Ann Marie's Helping Hands, and the Hobart Millers Merry Manor during her transition to her heavenly home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 332 U.S. 30, Valparaiso, IN 46385. Funeral services are Tuesday, July, 10 2012 beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West old Ridge Road, Hobart and proceeding to St. Bridget Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Visitation is Monday, July 9, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. St Anne's Rosary service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
