Edward Aleman, age 70 of Portage, IN passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born on November 4, 1943 in Gary, IN to Joaquin and Mary (Mendoza) Aleman, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Donna (Flores) Aleman of Portage, IN; son, Ronald (Zintia) Aleman of Forest Park, IL; daughters, Sandra (Tait) Lundgren of Elburn, IL and Kristin Aleman of Lakeville, MN; brother, Paul Aleman of Valparaiso, IN; sisters, Josephine Martinez of Chesterton, IN, Irene (Angel) Ortiz of Portage, IN, and Jennie (Hector) Ramirez of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Jack, Gia, and Aidan Aleman. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Anthony Aleman.
Edward retired from US Steel with 46 years of service. He was a Untied States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 260. Edward coached Portage Big League Baseball for many years with his friend Jim Cannon. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends. He was an active member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus Council 9114.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road Portage, IN 46368, with Father Andrew Corona officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368, and Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 10:00am until the time of mass at 11:00am at Nativity of Our Savior Church. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to St. Teresa’s Café Manna or Nativity Food Pantry.
