Myrtle Reichert (Anderson) - Class Of 1932

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, MARCH 21, 2005

Myrtle J. Anderson (nee Reichert), age 90 of Hobart, Indiana, passed away March 19, 2005, at Porter Hospital. Born April 5, 1914, in Hobart, Indiana to Edward and Louise Reichert. She was a lifelong Hobart resident and a 1932 graduate of Hobart High School. During her employment years, Mrs. Anderson worked for the license bureau and was Deputy Clerk for the City of Hobart for 16 years, during which time she also served as Chief Deputy. She was a 77 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart. Mrs. Anderson also served in the United Methodist Women; Wesleyan Circle; Magdaline Circle Reunion Group; the Church Mission on Sewing; Hobart Historical Society; ACHHS Club; Order of Eastern Star #314 (50 year member); member of AARP; past president of Business and Professional Women; member of former Republican Women's Club; Hobart Art League; Indiana Republicans; and Elderhostel Studies.

Myrtle is survived by two daughters: Joyce (Bob) Shone of Palatine, IL, Janet (Terry) Plesek of Valparaiso, IN; and one son, Richard (Marcia) Anderson of Valparaiso, IN; three grandsons: Tobin Shone of Tempe, AZ, Mark Anderson of Chicago, IL and Michael Anderson of Chicago, IL; four granddaughters: Marla (Eric) Espeseth of Chicago, IL, Amy (Russell) McCabe of Indianapolis, IN; Dawn (David) Richa of Fenton, MO, and Megan (Greg) Ward of Valparaiso, IN; six great-grandchildren: Gavin McCabe, Grace Richa, Jillian McCabe, Madison Ward, Grant Richa and Paige Espeseth. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Evert; parents; infant sister, Ruth; brother, Robert Reichert; and grandson, David McColly.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, 654 East 4th Street, Pastor Larry K. Whitehead officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson's family requests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Hobart. Visitation Monday, March 21, 2005 from 2-8 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Rees Funeral Home 219-942-2109.
