Michael Thomas Stropky - Class Of 1953

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, MAY 21, 2009:

Michael Thomas Stropky, age 74 passed away into Eternity on May 17, 2009 with his wife and children at his side. He was born in Gary, IN to Michael and Margaret (Kravitz) Stropky. At a young age, the family moved to rural Hobart on East 10th Street where he grew up. He graduated from 8th grade at St. Bridget Catholic School and Hobart High School in 1953. On August 18, 1956 he married Dolores Fitzer at St Lukes Catholic Church and from this union was blessed with three children. Michael worked at the Gary Screw and Bolt Works for 11 years, and then went into the Drywall profession for the next 50 years. He loved doing his job and took great pride in his work. He was called for his expertise in all of Northwest Indiana. In May of 1971, he moved his family to San Pierre and became well known in the North Judson area as the 'Best of the Best' dry walling some of the largest homes and buildings in the area. Michael loved the beauty of Gods nature, as well as gardening, growing flowers, hunting, fishing, walking through the woods, NASCAR racing and the music of Elvis Presley. He taught his family the love of nature, the value of hard work, the meaning of integrity and the Love of our Lord, Jesus. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959.

Michael leaves to cherish the memories of 52 years of marriage with his wife, Dolores; and their three children, Thomas (Terry) of Fishers, IN, Timothy (Judy) of Phoenix, AZ, Eileen (Ron) Winfrey of Grand Rapids, MI; his grandchildren that he was so proud of and loved so dearly, Elizabeth and Emily Winfrey, Timmy and Jeffrey Stropky and Rachel Stropky; his brother Paul Gene Stropky of Crown Point, IN and his life-long hunting buddy, Bob (Norma) Smith who also celebrated many happy events with him and Dolores. Preceded in death his mother, Margaret; father, Michael; step-mother, Mary Sue; and brother, James Fay; and infant sister, Margaret (Sissy). He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and loved him.

Donations in his name may be given to The Arthritis Foundation or The American Lung Association. Funeral Services at All Saints Catholic Church in San Pierre, IN at 11:00 am CST, Saturday, May 23, 2009. Viewing at O'Donnel Funeral Home, 302 Lane Street in North Judson, IN on Friday from 4 to 8 pm with The Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM and Saturday from 8 to 10 am CST. A Christian Burial at All Saints Cemetery, US 421San Pierre, Indiana with Military grave side services. Ecclesiastes 3:3; 'A right time for everything'. Amen.
