Marian Emily Zander (Scharbach) - Class Of 1937

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, MAY 15, 2009

Marian Emily Scharbach (nee Zander), age 90, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at home. Marian was born February 24, 1919 to Paul and Lydia Zander and graduated from Hobart High School, Class of 1937. On November 6, 1945 she married Robert C. Scharbach and they enjoyed 44 years together until he preceded her in death in 1990. Marian owned and operated the HI-STYLE Beauty Salon for 20 years where she made many friends over the years. She and her husband, Robert, also owned the Scharbach Grocery Store for a number of years. Marian was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and the LWML'S Sewing Group. She also found time to donate many hours to the SMMC Womens Auxiliary "Pink Ladies".

Marian is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Michael) Vega of Hobart; granddaughters: Michelle Vega of Hobart and Amanda (David) Stillwell of Oak Forest, IL; two great grandsons: David Stillwell, Jr. and Jacob Stillwell; brothers: Warren Zander of Westville, IN and Paul (Ruth) Zander of Hobart; brother-in-law, Mark (Donna) Scharbach; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Davis; and brother, Walter Zander.

Memorials are preferred to either Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN with Pastor Gary Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart. There will be viewing at church Monday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m. immediately prior to services. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a SMMC Auxiliary service at 3:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN (219) 942-2109 or online at: www.ReesFuneralHomes.com
