Jim Buffington was an avid bowler, served his country in the Air Force, served his country again as a civil servant, loved his grandkids (5), loved Florida, loved working the camera, loved any new technical gadget, and loved to laugh. He was a widower, grandfather, husband, father, brother, son, uncle and cousin and is missed by his family. His late wife, Gloria, was a cancer survivor, only to succumb to the effects of treatment two years preceding Jim's passing. Jim and Gloria fostered many a child in Indiana and Florida. And, were parents to a special needs child of their own, whom preceded them in death in 1982, Robert Buffington. Robert was a child born with Cerebral Palsey and Severe Mental Retardation and passed away at the age of 12 due to complications of Pneumonia and his disabilities. But, it was Robbie's disabilities that prompted Gloria to work with the Cerebral Palsey Center of Northwest Indiana and for Jim and Gloria to relocate to Florida to be closer to Robbie's group home. Like many others, my dad died too soon. He had only been retired for a few years, when God had other plans in mind for him. This brief tribute to him is submited in his memory. Thank you for reading.
