George Ewing - Class Of 1972

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JUNE 13, 2010:

George W. "Butch" Ewing III, 56, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at the VNA Hospice Center. He was born December 27, 1953 in Chicago the son of George Ewing, Jr. and Deloris (Bridges) Getz. He received three degrees from Purdue University: B.A. in Liberal Studies, A.S. in Business and an A.A. in Supervision. Butch retired from Bethlehem Steel with over 30 years of service, was a member of Hayes VFW Post #988 in Valparaiso, and will be fondly remembered for his passion for flying, having received a pilot's license in the 1970's, his leisurely enjoyment of movies and golf and his not so leisurely approach to politics.

On February 26, 2000 in Las Vegas he married Linda, who survives along with three daughters: Jamie (Nick) Smith of Hobart, Kalynn and Angela Ewing, both of Valparaiso; four sisters and one brother: Deborah (Kurt) Ruthenbeck of FL, Veronica Harvey of FL, Kenneth (Debbie) Ewing of Merrillville, Kathleen (Joey) Csokasy of FL and Loretta Dobbins of Valparaiso; step-mother, Patricia Ewing of FL; step-brother, Roger Getz (Linda) of Valparaiso; step-sister, Rita Getz of Naperville, IL and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-brother, Rick Getz and step-father, Richard Getz.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Rev. Richard Taylor officiating with cremation to follow at Angelcrest Crematory. Visitation Monday, 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to VNA Hospice of Porter County or the American Cancer Society . MoellerFuneralHome.com
