Marion Lois McKnight (Cornett) - Class Of 1944

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, DECEMBER 21, 2006:

MARION LOIS CORNETT (nee McKNIGHT) Valparaiso, IN/Hobart, IN Age 80, of Valparaiso, formerly of Hobart, crossed the finishing line in her last mile of the way on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. She was born to Morris & Mary McKnight on February 5, 1926, at home in Hobart, graduated from Hobart High School and during World War II, she worked in the Tube Mill at U.S. Steel as a crane operator.

She married her true love, Lester Cornett, on October 25, 1946. They had five children: Theresa Hardt, Cathy Cornett, Ron (Theresa) Cornett, Cindy (Terry) Barton, Shirlee (Dave) Reeves, 1 brother and 2 sisters: Dale McKnight, Rosalie (Bob) Wilkins, Norma Jean (Jim) Labadie, and she also leaves to cherish fond memories 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, Charles Hardt, and a grandson, David Robuck Hardt.

She was a lifelong member of Hobart First Church of the Nazarene which was founded by her grandmother, and she had volunteered at Porter Memorial Hospital for over 30 years with the Hospital Guild. Besides being a loving and devoted mother and wife, she was also an excellent seamstress.

Friends may meet with the family on Thursday from 3 - 8 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, and Friday from 10 - 11 AM directly at Hobart First Church of the Nazarene with funeral service beginning Friday at 11:00 AM, Rev.
