Wallace (Wally) Riley - Class Of 1944

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, OCTOBER 14, 2006:

WALLACE RILEY "Wally" Lake Station, Indiana Age 80, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Wallace was a lifelong East Gary/Lake Station resident and owner/operator of Liverpool Paint & Hardware in Lake Station for 43 years. Wally graduated from Hobart High School in 1944. Mr. Riley was a Lake Station Democratic 5th District Councilman for 24 years and involved in many community activities including the Lake Station Historical Society. He was active in the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Department and also the Lake Station Volunteer Department since 1974. Wally was an avid bowler, antique collector and had his own public museum.

He is survived by 4 children: Joannie (Keith) Williams of LaPorte, IN, Butch (Margaret) Riley of Westville, Donna Riley and Kim (Jim) Robison, all of Lake Station; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 1 brother, Lawrence (Nancy) Riley of Tucson, AZ; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Riley in 2005, grandson, Joseph Gene Castellanos, parents, Edgar and Frances Riley, and brother, Everitt Riley. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Lake Station Historical Society would be appreciated.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 16, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Dale P. Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. wwwreesfuneralhomes.com
