Albert Rosenbaum - Class Of 1945

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, DECEMBER 10, 2007:

ALBERT H. ROSENBAUM "Pike" Hobart, IN Age 80, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007. He was born on June 6, 1927, in Hobart, IN. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and a naval reservist for 8 more years inactive, active, ready and standby and an instructor in Div. 937 at the Miller naval reserve center. He was a member of the M.L. McClelland Lodge #357 and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Orak Shrine in Michigan City. He was also a member of American Legion Post 54, VFW Post 5365 and Trinity Lutheran Church. Albert retired from U.S. Steel after 38 years of service as a millwright and a draftsman. He then went on to work at Capital Engineering, retiring in 1998. He was a former member of ISOP skating professional and floor manager for 28 years and 2 weeks with Roller Derby. Albert graduated from Hobart High School and the Institute of Technology in Chicago. He was an associate member of F.O.P. Lodge 121. He was a 2 time patron of OES, and a member of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers. Albert was an avid golfer and fisherman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rosetta Rosenbaum (nee Stack) of Hobart, IN; 1 sister, Lorraine Mendenhall of Bradenton, FL; 1 stepson, Skip (Sherry) Mills of Bronson, FL; 1 sister-in-law, Janet Rosenbaum of Hobart, IN; 1 son-in-law, Douglas L. (Sue) Hines, Sr. of Medaryville, IN; nephews, Don (Lola) Rosen-baum, Jr. of Warner Robins, GA, Kent (Peggy) Rosenbaum of Hobart, IN, Brian (Kristy) Rosenbaum of Hobart, IN, Alan (Corinna) Rosenbaum of Fort Wayne, IN; 6 grandchildren, Douglas L. (Jackie) Hines, James (Hope) Hines, Rosetta (Mick) Vereb, Candyce (Daymon) Hartley, Christine (Joe) Lumbley, and Heidi Santos; 12 great-grandchildren; 9 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Harriet Rosenbaum, 1 brother, Don Rosenbaum, 1 stepdaughter, Catherine Diane Hines, and 1 brother-in-law, Wayne Menden-hall. Final note-God gave me a full and joyous life. I hope you have the same. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Funeral services are Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation is Tuesday, December 11, 2007, from 2 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Masonic Service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
