Eleanor Dujmovich (Sonaty) - Class Of 1944

Eleanor Sonaty, age 85, a longtime resident of Gilbert, Arizona, and formerly of Gary, Indiana, passed away on February 13, 2012. She was born on July 9, 1926 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Martin and Mary Dujmovich. She attended Saint Bridget’s School and then graduated from Hobart High School in 1944. She was married to Steve Sonaty, Jr. on January 17, 1948 in Valparaiso and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2002. Eleanor was a member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Gilbert, Arizona and a former member of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Gary. Eleanor was a homemaker who was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and a friend to all.

Eleanor is survived by her loving family; sons David (Terri) Sonaty, Brookfield, Wisconsin, Stephen (Marcia) Sonaty, Portage, Indiana, Christopher (Doc Chris) Sonaty, Mesa, Arizona, Douglas (Yasmeen) Sonaty, Gilbert, Arizona, daughter Eleanor (Paul) Roach, Gilbert, Arizona, grandchildren, Melissa (August) Behling, Indianapolis, Indiana, Vanessa Sonaty, Crown Point, Indiana, Stephanie Sonaty, Valparaiso, Indiana, Kyle (Savannah) Sonaty, Westville, Indiana, Courtney Roach, Gilbert, Arizona, Brett Roach, Gilbert, Arizona, Evan Sonaty, Gilbert, Arizona, Juliana Sonaty, Gilbert, Arizona, and Steven Jones, Portage, great-grandchildren Addison Sonaty, Lucas Sonaty, and Owen Sonaty, brother George (Pat) Dujmovich, Ogden Dunes, Indiana, and Martin (Sharon) Dujmovich, Hobart, Indiana, sisters Kay Richardson, Valparaiso, Indiana, and Marge (Bob) Nemtuda, Lake of the Four Seasons, Indiana, daughter-in-law Sandy Sonaty, Crown Point, Indiana, and other loving family and dear friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve Sonaty, Jr., her son Martin Sonaty, her sister Ann Dujmovich, and daughter-in-law Kathy Sonaty.

She was cremated and a memorial mass was held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Gilbert, Arizona.
