Carolyn Jacksic (Moore (Teacher))

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, AUGUST 23, 2012:

Moore, Carolyn Josephine (Jacksic) Age 71, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012.

She is survived by one son, Robert Moore, and his wife, Anna of Peoria, Arizona; and two daughters, Jackie King and her husband, Herschel, of High Point, North Carolina; and Michele Krantz and her husband, Larry, of Valparaiso, Indiana; four grandchildren, Nicholl, April, James Krantz, and Alexis King; a brother, Richard Jacksic; a sister, Mary Beth Totin.

Carolyn was born August 25, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kral) Jacksic. She earned a bachelor's degree from Edinboro University and a master's degree from Indiana University. Mrs. Moore taught English at Hobart High School for thirty years, retiring in June of 1999. During her years at Hobart High School she led the yearbook and newspaper staffs. Teaching the creative writing class was one of her passions. Carolyn enjoyed painting, reading, following sports, and supporting many charitable organizations. She coordinated The Experiment In International Living finding host families for students from Japan, Germany, Brazil and Mexico. She loved the excitement that joining these cultures together brought to the foreign students and their host families.

A mass celebrating the life of Carolyn will be held at 10 am, Monday, August 13, 2012 at Our Lady of Sorrows, Valparaiso, Indiana followed by inurnment at Graceland Cemetery. The family will greet friends at a luncheon, immediately following, in the Our Lady of Sorrows church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hobart Food Pantry, PO Box 394, Hobart, Indiana 46342 or www.foodbanknwi.org. Arrangements by Burns Funeral Home, Hobart, Indiana.
