Kathryn Katunich (Smith) - Class Of 1937

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, OCTOBER 9, 2013:

Kathryn Smith, age 94, a lifetime Hobart resident, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013. Kathryn was born on November 26, 1918 to George and Kate Katunich. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and a 1937 graduate of Hobart High School. Kathryn will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
 
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Patricia) Smith of Hobart; two grandchildren: Gregory (Milinda) Smith of Valparaiso and Jeffery (David Meyer) Smith of Crown Point; two great grandchildren: Nathan and Chloe Smith of Valparaiso; sister, Mildred (Earl) Rice of Hobart; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Smith, in 1971; five sisters: Mary and Dorothy Katunich, Barbara Luptak, Ann Golubic, and Helen King; two brothers: John and George Katunich.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathryn will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Church, 330 E. 45th Ave., Gary with Rev. Stephen Loncar officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a wake service at 5:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart. There will be additional visitation just prior to Mass from 9:30-10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Joseph the Worker Church.
