Lois Elaine Cortese (nee Bemis) of Hobart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on 10/23/2021. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony Cortese, her parents, Roy and Ruby Bemis, sisters Carol Broda and Connie Johnson, and 2 great granddaughters, Quinn Avery and Violet Cate Greener.

She is survived by her sister, Pam (Dan) Cooper, 5 children, Mark Cortese, Pete (June) Cortese, Cathy Cortese, Skip (Lisa) Cortese, and Michael Cortese, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

She was born in Winner, South Dakota, on 08/29/1934, moved to Vermont and then to NWI in 1949. She enjoyed sports (a lifelong cubs fan), outdoors, travel, and family. She also had a love for art and entertainment, was a member of the Hobart Art League, coached softball, and taught swimming. After raising her 5 children, Lois went back to school in 1976, started a career as an operating room technician and loved her job until she retired in 1989.
