Elaine Claire Ansbro, age 88, of Hobart, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at St Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart. She was born May 15, 1935, in Gary, Indiana to the late Burl and Dorothy (nee Page) Etchison. Elaine proudly served her country in the United States Air Force, and worked and retired from the United States Government, where she worked as a Switch Board Operator. Elaine’s passion was singing in the Purdue Home Extension Choir for over 30 years. In her free time she enjoyed traveling, square dancing, theater and above all spending time with her family.

Elaine is survived by her children; Becky Brehmer,  Leora (Bill) Maynard, Brenda (Mike) Gething, and Naomi (Mike) Irvine, daughter in law, Pam Schuler;; 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Ansbro, two sons, Doug Schuler, and Craig Ansbro; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren brother, Phil Etchison.

A funeral service for Elaine will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN with Pastor Allan Frye officiating. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from ­­­­­­­­­2:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
