Ronald (Ron) Tharp - Class Of 1985

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Ronald Wayne "Ron" Tharp, age 54, of Hobart, IN passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Ron was born on February 3, 1967 in Gary, IN to the late Ralph Tharp and Patsy Jean Kyncy.  He was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1985 and was on the state champion football team and wrestling team.  He went on to play semi-pro football for the Lake County Steelers with his best friend Chris Erlich.  Ron was a “jack of all trades” and was talented in selling anything and everything, from shoes to motorcycles and water systems.  He was most proud of his business RW Foods.  He also was in a current business venture with his sister, Sybil, opening a Café Lounge thru Elysium.  Ron enjoyed motorcycles and was an avid Goodwill shopper who was known to haggle the price on just about anything.  He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ron is survived by his children: Zac (Natalie Abila) Tharp, Kyle Tharp, Cameron Tharp, Chloe Tharp, and Carly Tharp; step-children: Angela Burns, Catie Davenport, and Capri Davenport; step-grandchildren: Catie and Brighton Burns; siblings: Ralph (Laura) Tharp, Johnny (Rhonda) Kyncy, Sybil Willoughby, and Albert Tharp; nieces and nephews: Kristin, Emma, Audry Tharp and Bobby Jr (fiancé Karrie Denisiuk) and Rhiannon Willoughby, Courtney (Elliot) Anderson and Joe Cardwell; aunt: Judy (late Paul) Hubbard; uncle: Bruce (Linda) Kyncy; father-in-law: Dave Albright; girlfriend: Brenda Crom; and their beloved dog: Tilly.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents: Ralph Tharp and Patsy Jean Kyncy; maternal grandparents: Claude Kyncy and Sybil McIntosh; paternal grandparents: Wayne and Mary Hickey; uncle: Paul Hubbard; mother-in-law: Debra Albright; and step-daughter Angel Ray.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart) on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 12:00-6:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 from Rees Hobart Chapel at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Shawn Evans officiating.  At rest, Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Ron's Family.
