Church on the Way in Van Nuys is the location of a memorial service for Evelyn C. Johnson, 74, Simi Valley, who died Monday in a Thousand Oaks hospital after a lengthy illness.

The service will be 2 p.m. Friday and Pastor Maurice Toile will officiate. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Gary, Indiana.

Born June 20, 1910 in Hobart, Indiana, Mrs. Johnson lived in Simi Valley for 11 years and also had lived in Hudson, Florida. She was a retired registered nurse, having worked at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Noppe, Simi Valley, Margaret Johnson, Van Nuys, Elizabeth Haile, Orlando, Florida, and Floride Nelson, Apopka, Florida; brothers Frederick Carr, Chesterton, Indiana, Gilbert Carr, Port Orford, Oregon, Robert Carr, Chesterton, and David Carr, Lower Lake; sisters Dorthea Wagoner, Chesterton, and Cynthia Goulden, Hudson, Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
