OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JUNE 9, 2004:

Vesta Ferne (Kraft) Kittredge, age 88, passed away on June 8, 2004 in Three Rivers, MI. Vesta was born in Hobart, IN on Feb. 12, 1915 to Daniel Kraft, Jr. and Ada Ferne (Shearer) Kraft. Vesta was raised in Hobart, IN, graduated from Hobart High School and was employed at the Gary Railways prior to marriage. On October 21, 1936 Vesta married her beloved husband of 54 years, Roy Edwin Kittredge of Valparaiso, IN. Vesta and Roy resided in Hobart, IN until 1952 when they moved to Valparaiso, with their three children. In both Hobart and Valparaiso, Vesta was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and O.E.S. Past Mastrons and was cofounder of the Hobart Chapter of the Job's Daughters. In Valparaiso, Vesta was employed in accounting for over 25 years at First Federal Savings and Loan. An accomplished musician, Vesta was church organist for the United Methodist Church and later for the First Christian Church in Valparaiso for twenty years. She was a past member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority and was active in numerous other organizations. Following retirement, Vesta and Roy moved to Three Rivers, MI in 1980. In Three Rivers, Vesta continued to be active in the O.E.S. serving as an organist for the Three Rivers, Mendon, and Colon Chapters. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Three Rivers, volunteering much time and enjoying the church's Friendship Circle.

Vesta is survived by her daughters, Ada F. Hiller of Valparaiso, IN and Jennifer Kay (Harry) Tice of Three Rivers, MI; one son, Lloyd Edwin (Darlene) Kittredge of Chesterton, IN; five grandchildren, Kent, Kari, Buck, Kelly and Anna; and ten great-grandchildren Vesta was preceded in death by husband Roy Edwin Kittredge, one brother, Russel Kraft; son-in-law William "Bill" Eugene Hiller; one granddaughter, Rebecca "Becky" Lynne Hiller. Vesta would like to be remembered for being a good wife, mother, grandmother, and a woman who loved her church.

Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until time of committal service at 11:30 a.m. at the Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Indiana (all times Indiana) at the cemetery chapel on Friday, June 11, 2004, with dear family friend Rev. Howard Roth officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Hohmer Funeral Home, Three Rivers, MI. 269-279-5282
