Robert Allen Ewing, age 59, of Portage, passed away May 29, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Monticello. Robert was a Hobart High School Class of 1977 graduate, with a passion for sports passed down by his father, especially Notre Dame football. Many a game was attended with friends and family. Robert loved riding his Harley and was a good and honest father, son, brother and friend. If he gave his word, it meant something. Robert was a Supervisor for Industrial Steel and a Local 597 Union pipefitter.
He was preceded in death by his father-Robert Lee Ewing. Robert is survived by his loving son-Jacob Allen (Katie) Ewing; two grandchildren-Abigail Paige Ewing and Alivia Renee Ewing, who were the light of his life; his loving mother-Beverly Jean Ewing-Lloyd; brothers-Kevin E. Ewing, David A. (Mary Haynes) Ewing; sister-Dianna J. (Craig) Brooks; loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Robert will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart.
