Victor Silich, Jr. - Class Of 1945

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, MARCH 29, 2013:

Victor V. Silich Jr., 86, of Demotte passed away March 27, 2013 with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 8, 1927 in Joliet, IL to the late Victor (Elvira) Silich. Victor was a 1945 graduate of Hobart High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Victor married Marie Iwan on May 26, 1951 in Gary, IN and from this union came three loving children. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of DeMotte, the Knights of Colombus, and the Nipsco Breakfast Club. He was a very reverent man who loved God, enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing, electrical work, going to dinner, traveling, and always had a wonderful sense of humor. Victor always smiled and made people laugh even until his last days. He was a loving husband and father.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Silich of DeMotte; daughters: Mattie Doucette of Hebron, Arlene (Dave) Reed of Crown Point, and Christine (Mike) Rogewitz of Maryland, sister, Marge (Ludwig) Bishop of Merrillville; grandchildren: Dr. David Reed DDS (Christine), Adam Reed, Mark Reed, Michael Rogewitz, and Jason Rogewitz.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in DeMotte with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will follow in the Cemetery of the Resurrection in DeMotte. Friends may call on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Frazier Funeral Home, 621 S. Halleck, DeMotte, IN 46310. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Victor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
