Eugene J. Mack (Musialkiewicz) was my precious dad. After retiring from US Steel in Baytown, Texas, he worked with various companies as a consultant to the steel industry, which he deeply and truly loved. He traveled to Italy with his wife, my mom Evelyn, and spent a couple months troubleshooting at a steel mill in Milan. He stayed active and golfed extensively throughout his life, making a pilgrimage to Scotland in his 70s to play St. Andrews! He was most proud of his children: Karen, Gene Jr. and Kristen, and his 8 grandchildren, who adored their "Big Papi." The last two years of his life were challenging, as his beloved Evelyn died in 2016, and he became ill shortly afterwards, losing one leg to diabetes complications. But he amazed his doctors and family, as a true athlete by learning how to use a prosthetic leg at age 86! He was a faithful Catholic, devoted to the Rosary, and died a happy death, surrounded by his enitre loving family, shortly after complications from a second amputation. He was truly an unforgettable "Man of Steel."
