OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Lonnie K. Layhew, age 49, of Portage passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Portage, Porter Regional. He was born June 1, 1967 in Gary, Indiana to the late Charles and Dorothy Layhew. Lonnie loved his family and his three furry dog companions, Olivia, Emma-Lee and Lil-Lee. He was a former manager at the Portage Speedway and a former district manager at the Movie Gallery in Valparaiso. He loved all types of music and calling bingo for the American Legion, Post 94, in Valparaiso. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Lonnie is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Darlene (nee Krzycki) son, Justin Layhew; two brothers, Charles (Sue) Layhew and Russell L. Layhew; two sisters, Linda (Stanley) Padlo and Denise (Tom) Potts, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers donations to Justin Layhew’s future education would be appreciated.

A funeral service for Lonnie will be Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN. 46342. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation for Lonnie will be Friday, October 28, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
