Richard Harold McCasland

December 7, 1944 - July 20, 2023

Richard Harold McCasland, 78, of Delphi, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette.

He was born on December 7, 1944 in Steele, MO to the late Richard and Aline (Viar) McCasland.

He was a 1963 graduate of Hobart High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served for four years. He was stationed in Okinawa for one year during Viet Nam. He then went on to become an electrician and worked as a lineman for Nipsco for over three decades from where he retired. He was a member of the Living Church of God in Zionsville. He enjoyed his church and Bible study. He was an amazing father and a very selfless person. He was empathetic toward animals and helped in raising Yorkies and especially loved taking care of the older ones.

He is survived by companion, Ellen Pratt of Delphi; son, Kevin R. McCasland of Lafayette; daughter, Kimberly Dulin of Mineloa, TX; two sisters, Barbara Jean Maves of Valparaiso, Annie Houston of Plymouth; grandson, Jacob Weiser of CA.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Weiser.

Graveside memorial services and burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 2:00 pm EDT.
