Gerald Reese - Class Of 1957

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Gerald “Skip” Norman Reese, age 84, of Valparaiso, IN, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2022. Skip was born on 1/6/1938 in Gary, IN to Gerald and Mildred Reese. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1957, was an Army veteran, a 20 year veteran of the Hobart Police Department, and went on to become Chief of Police in Rangely, Colorado. Skip was an avid outdoor enthusiast, former Boy Scout leader, and ultimate nature lover. He was fiercely independent and lavishly generous with his affection and acts of service for those he cared about.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sheila Zorich, and his wife Mary (Russell) Reese. Skip is survived by his three children Gary (Laurie Gover) Reese, Erin (Gail) Zak, Kelly (Ed) Stevens; five grandchildren Bailee, Chad, Abigail, Blake, Cora, and dear friend Pauline Lawhorne.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church, 301 S. Pearl St., Knox, IN. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization Skip was passionate about.
