Janet Jones Reller, age 83, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Reid Hospital. Born July 16, 1928, in Hobart, Indiana, to John and Lucile Miller Jones, she lived in Richmond over 55 years. Janet graduated from Indiana University, where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and later attended the Chicago Art Institute. She was a former school teacher, a homemaker, an artist, gardener and arts advocate. Janet enjoyed planning and participating in extended family travels. As an active volunteer, she was a past president of the Petal and Stem Garden Club, and a past president and trustee of the Richmond Art Museum. She was instrumental in organizing and volunteering for the Secret Garden Tour. In 2003 she was a recipient of the museum's Ella Bond Johnston Award honoring outstanding commitment to the arts. Janet was also a member of the Richmond Investment Club and the Richmond Collegiate Club. After moving to Friends Fellowship Community, she was actively involved with the Study Buddy reading program through Richmond Community Schools. Janet was a member of First Friends Meeting.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, George R. Reller; four children, Ross (Gwen) Reller of Indianapolis, John (Rita) Reller of Indianapolis; Elizabeth (Brian) Wallingford of Boise, Idaho, and Amy (Chandler) Coleman of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Zach and Jake Reller, Ashley, Abbey and Amanda Reller, Scott and Gregory Wallingford, and Finn and Camilla Coleman. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A public calling for Janet will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janet's memory may be made to: The Richmond Art Museum, P.O. Box 816, Richmond, IN 47375.
