Robert Moncada - Class Of 1983

OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Robert Moncada, age 57 of Hobart and formerly of Brunswick, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Robert was born on June 26, 1964 in East Chicago to the late Raymundo and Maria (nee Gonzalez) Moncada.

He was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1983. Robert retired after 35 years of service from Local #225 Chicago Laborers, where he worked for Environmental Hazard Control as a supervisor. He married the love of his life, Marie (nee Castillo), on June 17, 1989 and spent 32 wonderful years together.  Robert was a devoted member of Glen Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, camping often and cooking on the grill.  He shared his love with his daughters, teaching them to appreciate nature and art. Robert was very good at working with his hands and was meticulous in everything he did. He loved to go on cruises but enjoyed any form of traveling and vacationing. Most importantly, Robert cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids. He was very adventurous and lived life to the fullest. Even at age 57, he was always ready to learn a new skill. Robert loved Jehovah God and his family. He is a beloved husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, dear brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; daughters: Melissa (Matthew) Smedley and Kristen, Alexis, and DeAnna Moncada; grandchildren: Colton, Nora, and Rhiannon; siblings: Maria (Louie) Guillen, Raey Moncada, Leti (Charlie) Zamarron, Alicia (Rich) Hanna, Eddie (Rosa) Moncada, and Christina (Oni) Mireles; and numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends, and congregation. Robert is preceded in death by his parents: Raymundo and Maria and sister: Gloria Hunt.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W. Old Ridge Rd, Hobart) on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 P.M.  A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at 2:00 P.M. with Elder Ronald Phelps officiating.
