BETTY REEDY Portage / Carbondale, IL Age 81, of Portage and previously from Carbondale, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008. She was born on August 18, 1926 in Hobart, Indiana. The daughter of Merle and Goldie Bellinger. Betty was a 1944 graduate from Hobart High School. She married Charles James Reedy and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1982. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed puzzles, reading and bingo. She was a lifetime member of the Marquette Yacht Club, was instrumental in the growth of a Bible Study Group at her apartment complex, she was voted as the most helpful resident at her complex, and she had also worked at the Southern Illinois University Cafeteria preparing lunches for the foreign students.

Betty is survived by her loving family; daughter, Mary Ellen Cayton, South Haven; sons, Charles "Duck" (Patrice) Reedy, Lake Station, Gary (Karen) Reedy, Indianapolis, Bruce "Red" Reedy, Portage, and Dennis (Diane) Reedy, South Haven; six grandchildren, Jeff (Cassie) Reedy, Shauna Reedy, Kimberly Reedy, Bobby Cayton, Dennis Reedy, and Tommy Cayton; two great-grandchildren, Kara Murray and Alaina Cayton; sisters, Eva Jefferson, DeMotte, Sharon Mathis, Hobart, Marion (Al) Cook, New Johnsonville, TN, Loretta (Ed) Hamilton, Lake Village, and Eileen Wiggins, Colp, IL; brothers, Eddy Bellinger, Gary, Chuck (Marion) Bellinger, Wheatfield, and Bill (Barbara) Bellinger, Colp, IL, and other loving family and dear friends.

A visitation for Betty Reedy will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Rees Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
