Leonard Hayworth was a corporal in the USMC who was at war in Korea when he was photographed by David Douglas Duncan in a series of photos that conveyed the gripping terror and almost paralyzing trauma that young Leonard felt in battle. These photos made it into LIFE magazine, where Leonard Hayworth saw his own picture taken just weeks before. He was killed by a NK sniper the following day. I believe that although this was a tragic story, in a way it conveyed what all servicemen must have felt at some time or another in that and other wars. The photos honor him.
