Daphne E. Gant, age 77, of Hebron, passed away at 12:32 A.M. Sunday, August 11, 2002 at the St. Mary's Medical Center, Hobart.

She was born July 28, 1925 in Hobart, IN, the daughter of the late Joseph Albert and late Bessie Berniece (Frisinger) Beerbower.

She was a 1943 graduate of Hobart High School. Daphne was a homemaker and also was the former co-owner of the Southside Grocery in Hebron.

She was married June 23, 1946 at the Hobart Methodist Church to Emery Gant, and he survives. Other survivors include four children: Stephen (Cynthia) Gant of Streamwood, IL, Kimberly (Robert) Hager of Valparaiso, Bruce (Lynne) Gant of Dowagiac, MI and David (Juanita) Gant of Portage; one sister: Doris (Leo) Groom of Tucson, AZ; one brother: Joseph (Emily) Beerbower of West Simsbury, CT; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13th, at the Family Service Funeral Home, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN. Funeral Service 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at the Family Service Funeral Home in Hebron with Pastor Mark Eastway and Mr. John Ector officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebron Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Porter County American Cancer Society or to the Porter County Diabetes Assoc. 219-996-2821.
