OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES SEPTEMBER 13, 2017:

Jacqueline Marie Schmelter, age 53, of Valparaiso, formerly a long time Hobart resident, passed away September 10, 2017. Jackie was a graduate of St. Bridget Grade School and Hobart High School, Class of 1982. She was employed as a registered nurse (surgical nurse) in Northwest Indiana for 24 years. Jackie was the beloved twelfth child of Elmer and Mary June Schmelter. She was an avid sports fan. Jackie loved Notre Dame, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, fishing and golfing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary June Schmelter. Jackie is survived by her eleven siblings, Jerry (Shelly) Schmelter, Diane Hanson, Dan (Nancy) Schmelter, Jim (Rose) Schmelter, Joyce (Ed) Bennett, Rose (Charles) Parks, Jeff Schmelter, Patrice Mullen, Pam Mills, Mary Ellen (Doug) Perney, Jeanette (Glenn) Jones; numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial for Jackie will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 DIRECTLY at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 107 Main Street, Hobart, IN. Cremation will precede the Funeral Mass at BURNS FUNERAL HOME CREMATORY. BURNS FUNERAL HOME (HOBART) entrusted with arrangements.
