Fred L. Groomer, age 82, of North Judson, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Golden Living Center in Knox, IN. He was born March 7, 1936 in Vincennes, Indiana to Eugene and Lavera (Dailey) Groomer, both deceased.

In 1967, in Wheeler, Illinois, Fred married Virginia “Ginny” David. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2016. Fred was a graduate from Hobart High School, Class of 1954. He was a truck driver for U.S. Steel from which he retired after 30 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Labor Union.

Fred is survived by his step-children, numerous step-grandchildren; siblings: Peggy (Terry) Jarosak of Portage, IN; Patty Linkinhoker of San Antonio, TX; many nieces & nephews; and cherished caregivers, Leslie Norris & Shirley Brown.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Bill Groomer, and sister, Carolyn Lowe.
Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, April 27, 2018. Funeral services will follow at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Ketchen officiating. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
