James (Jim) Mackey - Class Of 1954

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JANUARY 10, 2017:

James J. Mackey age 80 of Hobart, IN, passed away on January 7, 2017. James was born in Rensselaer, IN on October 2, 1936. He was a Hobart High School graduate, class of 1954. James was a U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was the Executive Director for Leo Burnett Ad Agency then freelanced for Disney, Kellogg's, Keebler, Betty Crocker, Nestle and Pillsbury. He was the creator of Dig'em the Frog for Sugar Smacks cereal and the RailCats logo. Jim was known for the many years of snow sculptures he created on 10th Street in Hobart which were enjoyed by the community.

He was preceded in death by hisparents ,Jennings and Cecile (Britt) Mackey. He is survived by wife, Linda Lee (Kaczorowski) Mackey; children, Rick (Lisa) Mackey of Hobartand Tracy Fox of Hebron; two grandchildren, Jared (Amber) Fox and Justin Fox of Hebron; two brothers, Errol "Mac" (Kimberly) Mackey of Durango, CO and Terry (Bernadette) Mackey of St. Paul, MN; brother- in-law, David (Janice) Kaczorowski of Scherer- ville; three stepdaughters, Candace (Tom) Anderson, Lisa (Dave) Brant and Kelly (Jim) Broda; eight step- grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.
