Bonnie Sears (Hurr) - Class Of 1954 VIEW PROFILE

OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Bonnie Ellen Hurr (Sears), was born September 24, 1936 and passed away on January 29, 2023.  She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Hobart, IN.  She was a wonderful mother, sister, wife, grandma/gram/grammy, lala grammar/great-grandma, aunt and friend.

She told us that she loved the poem, The Dash.  Part of it reads, “I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came the date of birth and spoke the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.  For that dash represents all the time that they spent alive on Earth, and now only those who loved them know what that little line is worth.”

We know that her dash was worth so much and that it was very well lived.  Bonnie will always be remembered for so many things.  She was sweet, kind, funny and witty.  She was a member of a Bunco Club with her closest friends from high school.  She was a great artist and was a member of the Hobart Art Club for many years, creating many beautiful paintings.  She was also a member of the Winamac Auto Club.  Outside of her clubs and activities, she loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was very courageous and strong, one to admire for sure.  We hope that you had the chance to meet her.

Bonnie was always so loving and caring with such a big heart.  She always made sure her family was ok, even up until the end.  She leaves behind her beloved family- her brother Tom (Fay) Sears, her children Lynne (Chris) Groppel, Kris (Joe) Wilson, Meg McBrayer and Chuck (Linda) Kuntz. She also leaves behind her grandchildren- Heather, Gene, Chuckie, Paula, Sammi, Dani, Ben and Brenna, her great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.  She will be greatly missed by us all. We will love you forever.

Our family would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice of Calumet for their excellent care. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
