In Memory

Andy Fabian - Class Of 1975

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE, SEPTEMBER, 2015:

Andrew James Fabian, age 58, passed away September 21, 2015 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, John and Angeline Biel.

Andy leaves behind to mourn his departure his loving mother, Dorothy Fabian of Hobart; brother, Douglas (Sally) Fabian of Merrillville; sister, Katherine Novetske of Hobart; uncle, Edward (Dolores) Biel of Lake Station; nephews, Andrew and Benjamin Novetske of Hobart; niece, Melissa (Justin) Kinder and great nephew, Brayden Kinder of Valparaiso. He also leaves behind several cousins and many, many friends from all over the United States.

Andy lived a full and active life before his health declined. In his profession as a commercial plumber, he was afforded the opportunity to work and live in many cities throughout the United States. His most favorite ones were on the oceans: Newport Beach, California and Tampa, Florida. He loved the water. He worked diligently, loved well and played hard. No dare ever went unanswered, be it rock climbing a Mesa in New Mexico or Wind Surf Sailing in San Diego Bay; none of which he had ever done before. He loved sports of all kinds and played in many in his youth and throughout his life. Football, Basketball, Tennis and his most favorite of all, Golf. He was a virtual walking encyclopedia of sports statistics and trivia and was rarely wrong, if ever. Andy and his mom had a long running competition going for several years with the show Jeopardy. Scores were kept and compared and strict rules against cheating were supposedly in place. Andy loved it most of all when he would answer the final, “Bragging Rights” he would say. Andy had a great sense of humor and a comedic delivery that allowed him to win a first place prize of $500.00 at The Comedy Club in Anaheim, California on amateur night. This too was a dare.

He was a good and loving son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend to many. His early loss leaves a great void in the lives of his family. He will be so greatly missed.
