Joyce Ann Miracle (Baxter), age 79, of Hobart passed away January 22, 2021. Joyce graduated from Hobart High School-class of 1959. She was a strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joyce was an avid bowler, enjoyed going to sporting events, frequented concerts at the park, and was passionate about collecting snowmen and butterflies. On most days you could find Joyce playing games with family and friends.

Joyce began her career working as a telephone operator but was soon promoted to Homemaker and raised four children. During this time she was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, active in the school’s PTA and served as both a Girls Softball Coach and Board Member. As her kids grew older Joyce was employed at Mur’s Electric until becoming a teacher’s aide at Montessori School. Later in life, Joyce worked as a clerk for Hobart City Court. Upon retiring in 2004, she enjoyed seasonal work at County Line Orchard and frequently volunteered at the Portage Bonner Center and St. Mary Medical Center.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland Miracle. Parents: Marion and Carl Clements, Aaron Earl Baxter. Beloved brother: Tom Baxter. Joyce is survived by her children: Sherry (Leo) Finnerty of Hobart, Greg (Jenny) Miracle of Portage, Beverly (Scott) Seibal of AZ, Carolyn (Randy) Ussery of TX. Grandchildren: Josh (Renee) Miracle, David (Chris) Finnerty, Patti Ewing, Maxwell and Sophie Miracle, Katie and Alex Seibal, Sarah (Bryan) Spain, Ryan Vance, Mitchell Vance. Great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Kinsley Spain, Noah and Henry Ewing, Myles and Brock Miracle, Kristin and Brian Kline. Stepmother: Dorothy Baxter. Siblings: Larry (Milena) Baxter, Tina (Doug) Hepp; sister-in-law- Gloria Baxter. Many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Due to Covid concerns, services will be live-streamed and recorded through Burns Funeral Home Facebook page so friends and family can stay in their own homes. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E 7th St, Hobart, IN. services will conclude at the funeral Home.
