Dan Pilipovich - Class Of 1981

OBITUARY FROM STEINKE FUNERAL HOME (RENSSELAER) WEBSITE:
 
Daniel Lee Pilipovich, Sr., of Rensselaer, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2013 at Franciscan St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point. Dan was born in Gary on December 8, 1961, the son of Betty Rose (Bridgewaters) Pilipovich and the late George Pilipovich. He had been a resident of Rensselaer for the past eleven years.
 
Dan was a 1981 graduate of Hobart High School. He went on to graduate from Purdue University Calumet with a degree in restaurant and hotel management. He also graduated from Ivy Tech Vocational College where he studied auto body repair. Dan was disabled, but had previously worked as a machine operator and supervisor for Intec in Morocco and as a maintenance man for local rental properties. He was a member of Victorious Life Assembly of God Church and the Moose Lodge in Crown Point. Dan loved Christmas and enjoyed playing Santa Claus. He really loved to see the children’s faces light up.
 
On September 17, 2005, Dan married Sue A. Smith, and she survives. Also surviving are his mother, Betty Rose Pilipovich of Hobart; six sons, Daniel Pilipovich, Jr., Dennis Pilipovich, Douglas Pilipovich, David Pilipovich, Dominick Pilipovich, all of Crown Point, and Travis Sulcer of Rensselaer; two daughters, Brandi S. Pilipovich and Allisha Smith of Rensselaer; two grandchildren, Lance Sulcer and Alleta Smith of Rensselaer; a brother, Gary Pilipovich (Jeanette) of Chino Valley, AZ; and a sister, Paula Childers (Ronald) of Hobart. He was preceded in death by his father, George Pilipovich, one sister, Jannien Tinoco and one brother, George Pilipovich.
 
Friends may call on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Melvin Lane officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorials are suggested to the family. Share memories and condolences online at www.SteinkeFuneralHome.com.
