Jay Scriba - Class Of 1944

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE, NOVEMBER 7, 2014:

Alden Jay Scriba or as he preferred, Jay Scriba, age 88, of Hobart passed away Wednesday November 5, 2014 at his home. Jay was born May 25, 1926 in Gary, Indiana to the late Frederick Joseph and Edith Hazel (Strom) Scriba. Jay retired in 1981 from the Milwaukee Journal as a feature writer, theater and movie critic and columnist writing the columns “Where the Street Car Bends” and “Nature in the City”. Jay graduated from Hobart High School and Notre Dame University Cum Laude in 1950, the same year he married Mona Finton his wife of 64 years.

Jay is survived by his loving wife Mona Scriba of Hobart, several cousins throughout the country and many dear friends.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 pm Sunday November 9, 2014 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Burial will be at 11:00 am Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park.
