Edrena Rose Paulding (Callahan) - Class Of 1949

OBITUARY FROM SOUTH BEND (INDIANA) TRIBUNE, NOVEMBER 20, 2014:

Edrena Rose Callahan, age 83 years, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, in Culver, Indiana, following an extended illness. She was born on August 13, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Rudolph Cyril and Edrena Ottilie Stark Paulding. She graduated from Hobart High School, and had lived in South Bend and Walkerton, Indiana, and Seffner, Florida. In Walkerton, she was an Emergency Medical Technician with the Walkerton Emergency Medical Service. In Florida, she served as a Pharmaceutical Chemist for the Diamond Products Company. Edrena was a lifelong Catholic. She enjoyed researching family ancestry, handcrafts such as crochet and knitting, and homecrafts including baking, cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends over a game of cards especially euchre or spades. On April 8, 1972, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Charles J. Callahan. They celebrated the forty-second anniversary of their wedding this year.

Surviving family includes her husband, Charles Callahan; and sons, Arthur "Skip" (& Barbara) Callahan of Rochester, Indiana, Douglas (& Jenny) Callahan of Cincinnati, Ohio; and daughter, Kathleen (& Steve) Fries of Herndon, Virginia; grandchildren, Sarah Callahan, Charles Callahan, Nicholas Callahan, Andrew Callahan and Morgan Fries; great-grandchild, Sawyer Callahan; Edrena's sister, Eileen Deal of Ellenton, Florida; several nieces and nephews including Candice Portis, Gail Toporski, Fred Boessel and Carole Lynn Boessel; and special friends of the family: twins, Tim & Tom Tadros of Michigan City, Barbara Burkett of Walkerton, Indiana, and the Rozwood Family of Seffner, Florida. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine, and brother, Lawrence.

The Catholic Liturgy for Edrena Callahan will be read at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles by Deacon Roger Gregorski of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles.
