OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JANUARY 11, 2017:

Marguerite M. "Maggie" Wheeler, 88, of Monticello, passed away at 2:00 p.m. (CST), January 8, 2017, at Wittenberg Village of Crown Point. She was born September 15, 1928, in Hobart to the late Thomas P. and Mabel M. (Massom) O'Keefe. On June 14, 1952, in Hobart, she married Richard E. "Dick" Wheeler; he passed away September 5, 2005. Maggie was a graduate of Hobart High School of Hobart, and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing of Gary. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having worked at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville.

Surviving are daughter, Kathleen L. McBride of Monticello, and Joyce A. (John) Ivey of Highland; grandchildren, Richard (Brittany Hadarich) Smosna of Dyer, and April (Jeremy) Bragg of Highland; great grandchild, Harper Morgan Bragg of Highland; brothers, Robert O'Keefe of Fair Oaks, California, and Thomas O'Keefe of Gold Canyon, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends; and former son-in-law, William Smosna of Munster. Maggie was preceded in death by sister, Frances Brooks; and son-in-law, Robert M. "Bob" McBride.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 (noon) (EDT), January 12, 2017, at the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 543 S. Main Street, Monticello, IN 47960. Funeral Mass will be at the church at 12:00 (noon) (EDT), January 12, 2017. Burial will follow at the Hughes Cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to the Wittenberg Village, 1200 E. Luther Drive, Crown Point, IN, 46307, or Harbor Light Hospice, 1229 Arrowhead Court, Crown Point, IN 46307. Arrangements entrusted to Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, IN.
