I grew up next door to the Smith family. My memories of them are very happy ones. Kent's parents brought my mom and me home from the hospital in Gary after I was born because we didn't have a car. Kent was older than my brothers and me but would step into our badmitten games and take them over. He had a great sense of humor. We would have to quit whatever we were playing because he had us laughing so hard. He would have made a great teacher--he had such a way with kids. He was quite an athlete and was proud of being a Brickie. Everyone in the family loved sports. Thanks for being our friend Kent.
