Lois M. Uzelac, (nee Blackman), age 87, passed away March 29, 2018. She was born on August 24, 1930 in Valparaiso, IN., to the late Grant and Jessie Blackman. An area resident all her life, Lois graduated from Hobart High School in 1948. She was employed for many years at Allstate Insurance and later worked for Wiseway Food Centers.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Michael M. Uzelac in 2002; parents-Grant and Jessie; brothers-LaVerne (Bunn) Blackman, Norman Blackman, Ben Blackman; sisters-LaMae Stott, and Irene Agler.
She is survived by her beloved children, who were her pride and joy, Karen (Charles) Gard of Hobart, Michael G. Uzelac of Valparaiso, Mark (Jamie) Uzelac of Hebron; three grandsons-Lucas Gard of Hobart, Nicholas (Jillian) Uzelac of DeMotte, and Timothy Uzelac of Hebron; special nephew-Donald Lipke of Wheeler; sister-Doris (Wayne) Michaels of Valparaiso, Beverly (Steve) Uzelac of Indianapolis; numerous nieces and nephews; all the special life long friends and members of her Hobart Class of 1948 who have stayed in touch for so many years.
A time of sharing memories of Lois will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart. Friends may visit with her family Monday, April 2, 2018 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Burns (Hobart). Interment Calumet Park Cemetery.

Also, to the staff at VNA Hospice that helped us through her last days. These people are without a doubt angels on this earth and will never, ever, be forgotten.
