Robert Killens - Class Of 1948

Robert J. “Bob” Killens, age 88 of Hobart, passed away May 12, 2018. He was born May 5, 1930 in Hobart, IN. He was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1948. Bob was a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. He retired from Sears Roebuck after 38 years. Bob was Past Master of Masonic Lake Lodge #157. He was a member of Orak Shrine and of Sportsman Club. Bob enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
 
Bob was preceded in death by his parents- Homer and Isabel Killens; brother- Thomas “Bud” Killens; sister- Judith Killens- Crawford. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, with whom he shared a mutual birthday- Mary Stringer Killens; daughter- Kathy Killens (James) Coffman of Valparaiso; sisters- Patricia Ayers of Florida, and Karen Fahey of Hebron; many nieces and nephews.
 
Bob’s family wishes to thank the staff of Towne Centre and SouthernCare Hospice Services for their wonderful care in the last year of his life. “Dad was a kind, loving and honorable man. His request was to be cremated with no viewing or service so I am honoring his wishes.” In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children.
