James "Jamie" Sloas - Class Of 1992

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

James A. Sloas “Jamie”, age 46, a lifelong resident of Hobart, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020. He was born on October 27, 1973 in Hobart to Don and Laura Sloas. He was a 1992 graduate of Hobart High School. Jamie was currently employed as a painter at US Steel and a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1014. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling. Above all, he loved his nephews and cherished spending time with them.  

He is survived by his mother, Laura (Lyle Dunigan) Sloas of Portage; brother, Don (Amanda) Sloas of Hebron; nephews, Aidan and Logan Sloas; aunts, Shirley (George) Bruggenthies, Patricia (Curtis) Boggs; cousins, Shelia (C.J.) King, Ray (Sara) Boggs; and many loving family members and friends.   

Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Don Sloas in 2008; grandparents, Lillie and Graydon Sloas, Louise and Ed Kowalczyk; cousin, Scott Boggs. Memorial contributions in Jamie’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle Chicago, IL 60674.

A funeral service for Jamie will take place Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. As a courtesy to the family face masks are required for attendance at services. The service will be streamed live on the Rees Funeral Homes Facebook page. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
